Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja), Endangered

The Tesoro Escondido Reserve Foundation is a grassroots Ecuadorian NGO focused on the conservation of the lowland Ecuadorian Chocó. Tesoro protects 2000 hectares of primary forest in one of the most diverse and threatened ecosystems in the world through participatory scientific research, environmental education, reforestation, and sustainable community projects. We protect Critically Endangered species such as the Brown-headed Spider Monkey together with local communities as active participants in the process.

“We are just beginning to know and understand the unique and absolutely breathtaking Chocó forest. Saving the Chocó is critical for all the biodiversity it is home to and for our future generations.”

Dr. Citlalli Morelos, Reserve Director
