Buenaventura Reserve infrastructure support

OVER 50,000 acres protected in western Ecuador
PARTNER: FUNDACIÓN JOCOTOCO, ECUADOR

At Buenaventura Reserve, guests wake to the calls of toucans, hummingbirds, and some of the rarest birds on Earth. The lodge at Buenaventura has long served as both a sanctuary for birders and a vital base for conservation in one of Ecuador’s most threatened cloud forest ecosystems. But years of tropical weather and constant use have taken a toll. The lodge urgently needs a new roof, and guest rooms require essential renovations to remain safe, welcoming, and functional for researchers, birders, and eco-travelers whose visits directly support conservation work across the reserve.

Your support will help preserve not only a beloved ecolodge, but an entire conservation model that protects habitat through sustainable tourism. A renewed lodge will allow Fundación Jocotoco to continue hosting visitors whose presence funds forest protection, local employment, environmental education, and the safeguarding of endangered species like the El Oro Parakeet. Our goal is to reach 10,000. Our partner Save the Chocó will match up to $5,000. Every contribution—large or small—helps ensure that Buenaventura remains a thriving refuge for wildlife and a place where future generations can experience the extraordinary biodiversity of Ecuador’s western cloud forests.
